Our mission is to reduce negative environmental damage with sustainable use of
materials that are Eco-friendly. Using Mycelium, we aim to make biodegradable packaging
materials that replace plastic and plant-based packaging materials.
ABOUT US
Shroom Technologies, a start-up, is effectively working on alternatives for plastic and plant-based packaging. Our goal is to create packaging materials that can comfortably replace plastic and paper. As a packaging provider, Shroom Technologies’ mission is to develop new age ecofriendly-environmental packaging technology which will utilize mushroom mycelia. This organic packaging materials can offer the same value that other packaging material currently gives the mass majority of consumers, in a sustainable, safe manner. The packaging materials made from the mushrooms are 100% Bio-based and home-compostable making it sustainable. The organic material can grow at a rapid rate and can help reduce greenhouse gases being emitted into our atmosphere. This material can be easily discarded and left to biodegrade, allowing nutrients to return to the Earth. Hence, decreasing the level of industrial composting. The product developed by Shroom Technology will therefore be environmental friendly and cost[1]competitive. This technology is non-toxic, biocompatible with no adverse effects on the environment or human health.
OUR TECHNOLOGY
We are developing a 100% Bio-based and home compostable packaging material
from mycelium. Our technology involves the use of natural and biodegradable raw
materials as the substrate to grow mycelium into a required shape. A mould of interest is
to be designed as per the requirement of a packaging body, which is to be filled with the
substrate and the mycelium mixed together and let it grow. The product is then dried at
to disable further growth of mycelium. The packaging material thus obtained will be
tested for its physical characteristics like strength, elasticity, flexibility, thermal
conductivity, moisture storage etc.
